Nailed

Wow there is some serious sexy heat, in this second chance erotic romance. This story hooks you right away, with heat and a different storyline. Opal Carew knows how to bring the heat in a story but I also really enjoyed reading about The nail polish business, which caught me by surprise.

When River Cassidy came up with a Kickstarter Campaign to fund her nail polish business, she never expected that her campaign options would all be gone in two days. So when she arrives for a dinner date with a high level campaign benefactor, she never expected to come face to face with Kane Winters the one person who betrayed and humiliated her in college.

Kane Winters had been looking for River Cassidy for years and intends to make up for all the pain he'd caused her in college and convince her they can have a future together. She'd become the woman he compared every other woman to and they all came out lacking. With one touch their chemistry is still on fire. So when he offers her a deal, she just can't refuse, she takes it somewhat apprehensive but intrigued. Their passion is sizzling hot and so is this story. You wont want to miss this quick hot read.

I'm really sad that I paid actual money for this book. The main guy is a self entitled jerk. He never adequately makes up for a past betrayal. He uses her desperate circumstances to force her into a relationship and marriage. You never understand why she's so in love with him. He keeps huge secrets from her that she forgives him for way to easily. There's basically no character development and the scene where he basically forces her to pleasure him when he's in a jealous rage is really a problem.

Nailed is a second chance romance that ended up surprising me with the path the author took this story. River and Kane met in college. River was the shy quirky girl who had a bad upbringing. Kane was the rich popular frat boy who asked River out due to a bet from his college buddies. Kane was surprised to find that he actually connected with River but she found out about the bet and dropped out of college. Now normally this would make me hate the H and couldn't possibly make the reunion believable for me but we find out the humiliation River suffered wasn't completely Kane's fault.

Fast forwards into their adult lives and Kane's BF Will, who was around them at college, finds River and presents an opportunity for Kane to help River start her dream company. Both were feeling guilty for how things played out for River in college but also Kane never truly got over River and is hoping to explore a relationship with her.

While the events to lead them back together wasn't exactly realistic, I was still enjoying the story but then the story took a turn. This turned from a great love story between Kane and River to Will being added to the relationship. This would have been ok except I just didn't feel it flowed very smoothly. I still liked the story but almost wished it stayed between Kane and River. I really liked Will's character and I think maybe if he was part of the package in the beginning, it would have been more believable.
