About Fritz Kalkbrenner

With his melodic deep house grooves, German singer-songwriter, DJ, and producer Fritz Kalkbrenner has notched a series of Top 10 albums in his home country. • His younger brother is Paul Kalkbrenner, a famous DJ and producer in his own right. The Kalkbrenner brothers are both grandsons of famed East German painter and graphic artist Fritz Eisel. • In 2003, Fritz sang on “Forms & Shapes,” off German DJ and producer’s Sascha Funke’s debut album, Bravo. The song’s success in the clubs led to collaborations with other electronic musicians. • Fritz and Paul teamed up for the single “Sky and Sand,” which appeared on the soundtrack for the 2008 film Berlin Calling and cracked the Top 30 on the German charts the following year. • His 2010 debut album Here Today Gone Tomorrow mixed pop music construction with deep house moods to create his signature laid-back style. • Fritz reached the Top 10 of the German charts with his next three albums: Sick Travellin’ (2012), Ways Over Water (2014), and Grand Départ (2016). • As of 2021, Fritz has released six studio albums, not including the soundtrack for the 2013 film Global Player, a collaboration with his brother Paul and film composer Florian Appl.
