Benny Moré, Perlas Cubanas: Benny Moré "Sonero Mayor de Cuba" Buena Vista Social Club, Buena Vista Social Club Roberto Faz, Antología Cubana: Roberto Faz These are some of the crown jewels of the pantheon of great Cuban music. Benny Moré has never been matched. Roberto Faz modernized the music in his own special way and, Buena Vista put this music back on the map after it had been largely forgotten. Tell us why you chose this song. “Mamaita No Quiere” It hits the ground running with explosive energy created by our ensemble which is essentially a human rhythm machine. From the first note the trumpet and percussion beckon itchy feet to the dance floor with an upbeat melody that can lift any spirit. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? We're often compared to Buena Vista Social Club as our 'sound-alike' band. Our performances sometimes transition into extended experimental Afro-Cuban improvisational jam sessions called a 'descarga.' We are the Ambassadors of Cuban Folklore℠. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? It would be great to have a full album of new songs and fresh interpretations of some traditional ones that have been forgotten. To hear it all on vinyl will make it feel like we've finally arrived. Playing Carnegie Hall would complete the picture.
