Lucas Lucas

Publisher Description

The badlands of South Dakota . . . haunting landscapes, legendary outlaws, and . . . vampires?

Lucas Donlon, Vampire Lord, is one of the most powerful vampires in North America and beyond. Charming and irreverent to his friends and lovers, he enjoys everything about his life as a vampire. But when a neighboring lord makes the mistake of declaring war, he quickly discovers that Lucas is every bit as lethal as he is charming.

Kathryn Hunter doesn't care about powerful vampires or their wars. Her baby brother is missing, and she will do anything to find him, even if it means going against both her FBI bosses and the local vampire lord. But Lucas Donlon has other plans for the lovely FBI agent who's landed on his doorstep.

Waging war against their enemies and each other, Lucas and Kathryn will risk everything to keep the most deadly vampire war in hundreds of years from engulfing every vampire and human in North America.

Ok

I was extremely disappointed in Duncan’s story. The story did not do him justice. Lucas was an interesting character when I read about him in Denver. He was exactly what I expected in his story. No straying from his true character. Fun. Arrogant. Charismatic. However, much like Duncan’s story, we were forced to endure the women behind the powerful Lords. Kathryn was annoying, but gladly not TSTL. Kathryn was definitely boring. Her life was boring. Her job was boring. She was barely an FBI agent. No wonder she worked the desk. I actually liked her. She both bored and annoyed me, but I liked her. She was supposed to be tough. What she was was naive, but tenacious. She was so inexperienced, and too stubborn to admit she didn’t know how to investigate her brothers disappearance.

I did not feel a connection between Lucas and Kathryn. Just lust. The stories plot had potential. Too much dialogue. Not enough action. I agree with other reviewers about the character/ story inconsistency’s. Lucas is a powerful Lord vampire. How is it possible that Magda can plot against him, in his territory, and he not be aware. The Chicago Lord, definitely weaker, was able to control Alex, while he was miles away. Unbelievable. I must admit, I did skim over some of the sex scenes. Mostly because the love that was rushing forth was not believable.

I am finding that the author continues to write these strong women badly. Makes me miss Raphael and Cyn’s story. The series isn’t evolving. The stories are missing something. I do recommend and will continue reading the series.
