Radio Happy Hour started in June 2009 with a monthly residency at the NYC's (Le) Poisson Rouge. Radio Happy Hour is a live-mystery-meets-late-night-talk-show, that engages guest stars in wildly right-angled conversations that careen between interviews, performances, and an audience quiz show. At the center of the show is an old-time radio murder mystery/comedy, where the guest star is written into the storyline as him or herself. Past shows have seen Norah Jones as a motel manager; Michael Showalter as the host of his very own cable fitness show; Andrew W.K. as the iconic John Bender character from The Breakfast Club; Tunde Adebimpe (TV on the Radio) as the founder of a wilderness camp for ineffectual men; Kumail Nanjiani as a ventriloquist with a southern dummy; Craig Finn & Tad Kubler (The Hold Steady) as brothers and Chuck Klosterman as their dad on a doomed road trip to a small town called Manhattan, Minnesota. (New podcasts come out monthly, despite the fact that the dates are mixed up on the iTunes feed.)

Small town charm & Big Time Guests/Hold on to your pants

Sam Osterhout and his coterie of vocal stylists are bound to charm them off.

I know, I've seen them do it to guests and audiences alike during their live shows and am pleased to report the same result when listening from home (for nostalgia's sake I listen in my basement with the lights out...and a bottle of peppermint schnapps).

Sam strikes a delicate balance between small town charm and pool hall sleaze, lowering guests' guards not for sucker punches but playfull pokes and stolen kisses.

Funny Radio Show that is not on the Radio

Great guests and great perfomers! I love the music and the old radio references. Looking forward to more episodes.

Better than...

...Marmite on toast. Loved the RHH that I attended in NYC and have been listening live from London ever since.
Loving your work!
